Cork City Council has announced nightly total closures of the inbound lanes of the N27 South Link Road, one of Cork City’s principal arterial routes, to accommodate large-scale resurfacing and road improvement works.

The closures are scheduled to operate nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., starting Monday, 7 September, and continuing until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, 12 September. The affected stretch covers the inbound carriageway running from the Kinsale Road Roundabout to the road's junction with Old Station Road.

The resurfacing project is being undertaken by Breedon Group. According to Cork City Council, emergency access will be maintained at all times during the scheduled maintenance windows.

The overnight works will also require the closure of the inbound right-turning lane onto Boreenmanna Road. Additionally, resurfacing is planned for the junction connecting Old Station Road, the N27, and Eglinton Street, which may require localized diversion adjustments during specific phases of the project.

A official diversion route has been established for inbound traffic from the Kinsale Road Roundabout. Motorists will be directed northbound via Kinsale Road and Curragh Road, westbound on Evergreen Road, northbound along Summerhill South, Langford Row, and Infirmary Road, westbound on South Terrace, northbound on Cotter Street, and eastbound across Anglesea Place and Copley Street to connect with Old Station Road. Outbound motorists on Albert Street wishing to reach Eglinton Street or Old Station Road during junction works will be directed outbound towards the Kinsale Road Roundabout to join the detour.

Public transport operator Bus Éireann noted that Route 225 services towards Kent Train Station will bypass stop 236851 at Eglinton Street during the nightly closures, with passengers advised to check service updates for alternative stopping arrangements.
