A man in his 50s has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on Lee Road in County Cork. The crash, which involved a van, occurred between 10:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, and 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was removed to a local mortuary where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place. The coroner has been notified.

An Garda Síochána closed the section of Lee Road to enable Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to perform a technical examination of the scene. Local traffic diversions were put in place while the road remained closed.

Investigating officers have appealed for witnesses to contact them. Gardaí are particularly requesting any road users who were travelling on Lee Road between 10:00 p.m. on Monday and 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday, especially those who may have dashcam or other camera footage, to make it available.
