The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration confirmed that 43 Georgian nationals were deported from Ireland to Georgia on Sunday aboard a chartered flight. The return aircraft departed Dublin Airport at 1:50 p.m. and landed in Tbilisi at 6:40 p.m. Irish time.

According to a department spokesperson, deportation orders were enforced against 33 adult men, seven adult women, and a family group including three children. The return flight was chartered at a cost of €225,575 excluding VAT. Returnees were accompanied on board by members of An Garda Síochána, medical staff, an interpreter, and an independent human rights observer.

Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan stated that enforcing deportation orders plays an essential role in preventing the state's immigration system from being undermined and ensures adherence to legal migration pathways. O'Callaghan noted that the operation was the sixth charter deportation flight conducted in 2026, while acknowledging that the vast majority of Georgian nationals residing in Ireland are legally present and contribute positively to society.

Minister of State for Migration Colm Brophy described charter deportations as complex operations that serve as a necessary part of the state's asylum and immigration procedures. Official department figures show that 3,381 deportation orders were signed up to September 18, 2026, with 221 individuals removed via chartered flights during the year to date.
