Public sector unions in Ireland have voted to reject a proposed 7.75 percent pay increase offer from the Government and announced a planned 24-hour strike.

The industrial action is scheduled to coincide with an international European Union presidency event taking place in Dublin.

Following the rejection of the pay deal, the Government confirmed that the scheduled EU international meeting will proceed as planned despite the announced disruption.
