Gardaí have arrested two men and seized an estimated €183,000 worth of suspected cocaine following targeted search operations at two locations in Tuam, County Galway, on Monday.

The raids were carried out as part of ongoing intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in the region. The operation was conducted by the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by local drugs units, the Garda Armed Support Unit, and two dog units.

In addition to the suspected cocaine, officers recovered a quantity of cannabis and an undisclosed sum of cash during the searches. Gardaí stated that all seized illicit substances will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested in connection with the operation. They are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station within the Garda North Western Region. Gardaí confirmed that investigations remain ongoing.
