Gardaí have arrested a teenager and recovered a firearm alongside ammunition following a public order incident in west Dublin on Tuesday evening.

Officers attached to the Task Force Unit at Ronanstown Garda Station, working alongside Crime South and Community Engagement personnel in Lucan, were deployed to Balgaddy, Lucan, shortly after 7:00 pm on 15 September 2026 following reports of a disturbance.

Upon attending the scene, officers discovered a firearm and ammunition located nearby. The seized weapon has been taken for technical and ballistic examination.

A male in his late teens was arrested in connection with the incident. He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

An Garda Síochána confirmed that investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
