Emergency services and Gardaí responded in the early hours of Thursday after six people were discovered inside a freight trailer on board a vessel docked at Rosslare Europort in County Wexford.

The group, comprising five adult men and one juvenile male, was located after a distress call was made while the ship was en route to Rosslare. Personnel from the National Ambulance Service and An Garda Síochána met the vessel upon its arrival at approximately 5:00 am.

All six individuals were taken to Wexford General Hospital for medical evaluation. According to Gardaí, three adult men remained in hospital receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Two other adult men were subsequently refused permission to land in the State by immigration officers after being discharged from medical care, while the juvenile male was reported to be receiving appropriate support services.

Ger Carthy, an operations resource manager with the National Ambulance Service in Wexford, confirmed that two ambulances and three response teams were dispatched to the port, adding that the group appeared to be in a distressed state upon discovery.

An Garda Síochána stated that Wexford Gardaí, assisted by the Garda National Immigration Bureau, have commenced an investigation into all the circumstances surrounding the incident.
