German life sciences group Sartorius and Ireland's National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) have announced a strategic partnership to establish a specialized training centre for intensified and continuous bioprocessing in Dublin.

Scheduled to launch operations in the fourth quarter of 2026, the facility is designed to serve as a hub for practical training, scientific research, and technical knowledge sharing. The centre aims to train more than 1,000 scientists, engineers, and biopharma industry professionals annually as manufacturing shifts from traditional batch production toward continuous process models.

Under the agreement, Sartorius will equip the Dublin facility with its proprietary Pionic technology, a modular platform engineered for integrated continuous bioprocessing in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards. The platform includes digital tools and real-time analytical capabilities covering both upstream and downstream production stages.

Alongside professional workforce training, the partnership plans to host joint research initiatives and pilot-scale process demonstrations. The collaboration is intended to strengthen skills development and workforce readiness across the global biopharmaceutical sector.
