Streaming giant Netflix has quietly increased monthly subscription rates across all service tiers for customers in Ireland, marking the latest cost increase for digital media consumers.

Under the updated pricing structure, the platform's standard tier plan has risen by €2, moving from €16.99 to €18.99 per month. The entry-level basic plan, which permits streaming on a single device, has increased by €1 from €10.99 to €11.99 per month. Meanwhile, the premium plan, designed for multi-device viewing in high-definition formats, has gone up from €23.99 to €25.99 per month.

The revised rates apply immediately to new users creating accounts on the platform. Existing subscribers are expected to see the rate changes reflected in their accounts during upcoming billing cycles, following standard advance notification periods.

Commenting on the price adjustment, Darragh Cassidy of price comparison website Bonkers.ie noted that price increases of €1 to €2 have become increasingly common as streaming platforms expand their content catalogues. Cassidy advised households to review their streaming subscriptions to ensure they are not paying for higher-tier plans than necessary, adding that subscribers can downgrade plans or pause memberships without losing account viewing history.

The Netflix price increase coincides with broader rate adjustments across digital subscription platforms in Ireland. Music platform Spotify updated its subscription fees earlier in the year, while YouTube Premium's monthly charge in Ireland also rose from €13.99 to €15.99.
