An Garda Síochána confirmed that a catering contractor providing meals to officers during US President Donald Trump's visit to County Clare was stood down following complaints regarding food quality.

The multi-day security operation required extensive logistical arrangements, with approximately 2,400 gardaí deployed on day shifts and 900 on duty at night over a four-to-five-day period across County Clare. Between Friday, 11 September, and Sunday, 13 September 2026, more than 25,000 meals were served to personnel at localized facilities.

Following complaints from officers and security staff, Garda management reviewed the catering service provided by one contractor and determined that the food quality failed to meet contractual standards. The firm was subsequently removed from the list of approved providers.

A Garda spokesperson stated that officer welfare is prioritized during large-scale deployments. The spokesperson confirmed that alternative catering providers were immediately engaged to support officers on duty, ensuring an uninterrupted meal service throughout the operation.
