A 40-year-old man living in County Cork has appeared before Cork District Court charged in connection with the alleged theft of more than €520,000 worth of platinum from medical device manufacturer Stryker over a three-year period.

Detective Garda David Hickey formally arrested Kamil Zelechowski, of The Mews, Elmbury, Carrigtwohill, County Cork, at Cork District Court and charged him with a single count of theft. The court heard that when cautioned in relation to the charge, the accused made no reply.

The charge alleges that between January 1, 2022, and April 3, 2025, at Stryker Neurovascular on Model Farm Road in Cork, Mr Zelechowski stole property, namely platinum to the value of €522,190, contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.

Mr Zelechowski was remanded on bail under strict conditions until October 7, 2026. The court heard the adjournment will allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding whether the case will proceed by way of a signed plea or if a book of evidence will be required.
