Revenue officers and Gardaí have seized approximately five kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of €500,000 after discovering the illicit drugs disguised as confectionery at Dublin Airport.

The interception took place when customs personnel stopped and searched the luggage of a passenger arriving on a flight originating in Brazil. Officers found the cocaine concealed inside individual lollipop packaging.

The operation was conducted by Revenue officers in conjunction with the Ballymun Drugs Unit and the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau under Operation Skein, an initiative targeting international criminal networks.

A man in his 60s was arrested by An Garda Síochána in connection with the seizure and was subsequently charged. In follow-up searches following the airport intercept, officers recovered an additional €16,000 in cash alongside suspected controlled substances valued at €14,500. Authorities stated that investigations remain ongoing.
