Sir Demis Hassabis, chairman and co-founder of Google DeepMind, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for Ireland's International AI Summit taking place in Dublin next month.

The summit will be held at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) on October 14 as part of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event is set to bring together European policymakers, technology leaders, investors, and researchers to discuss strategies for boosting European competitiveness, accelerating AI adoption, and advancing responsible technological innovation.

The Dublin event will also host the official launch of European AI Innovation Month, a Europe-wide programme coordinated by the European Commission to encourage technology deployment across member states.

Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke TD said the inclusion of Sir Demis reflects the significance of the summit in shaping Europe's response to artificial intelligence. He noted that the gathering aims to establish how Europe can build capabilities needed to lead in the next era of tech innovation.

Sir Demis, who also serves as chief scientist at Alphabet and chief executive officer of Isomorphic Labs, has spearheaded significant developments in advanced AI systems, healthcare applications, and scientific research through Google DeepMind.
