Theatre company The Performance Corporation has unveiled 'Pretty Vacant', a new satirical Europop musical addressing urban dereliction, housing pressures, and gentrification in Dublin. The 75-minute production is scheduled to premiere at Tailors' Hall in the Liberties as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival, running from September 15 to 20.

Written by playwright Tom Swift and directed by Jo Mangan, the musical features original music and sound design by Daragh Dukes. The plot follows Carmilla—a former Eurovision contestant turned property developer played by Ruth McGill—who attempts to sell a commercial regeneration plan on behalf of a corporate firm to rebrand the historic Liberties area. The slick pitch descends into community resistance when local residents challenge the developer-led vision.

The production stars an ensemble cast including Emmet Kirwan, Alan Howley, Matthew Malone, Aisling O'Mara, and Camille Lucy Ross. Created in collaboration with the Liberties Community Project and The Liberties Festival, the show was developed using stories and experiences gathered from local residents in response to changing neighborhood landscapes and vacant urban properties.

The staging at Tailors' Hall on Back Lane grounds the performance in local heritage, taking place in an 18th-century building historically associated with civic assembly. Supported by Dublin City Council, Kildare County Council, and An Taisce, the production will also host a free performance on Culture Night on September 18, followed by a public panel discussion on heritage, vacancy, and urban development.
