RTÉ has confirmed it will provide scaled-back broadcast coverage for the Republic of Ireland’s upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Israel, fulfilling its broadcast obligations while omitting studio presentation, punditry, and internal commentary.

In a statement released on Saturday, the national broadcaster announced that commentary for both matches will be taken directly from UEFA's international feed rather than being provided by RTÉ commentators. The station will not feature studio presenters or punditry teams, and it has declined to accept any advertising or commercial sponsorship surrounding either broadcast. A minimal technical crew will handle the feed, while news outlets within the network will continue to report on the matches and related developments.

RTÉ stated that the arrangement reflects a decision to fulfill its contractual broadcasting obligations while restricting additional production and commercial activity connected to the games. The first fixture is scheduled for 27 September in Debrecen, Hungary, followed by a second match on 4 October in Bačka Topola, Serbia. The latter match was originally scheduled as Ireland's home fixture in Dublin, but was relocated to a neutral venue behind closed doors by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) citing operational and security challenges.

The broadcaster's announcement follows public protests, campaign calls for a fixture boycott, and representation from trade union SIPTU, which had supported RTÉ staff raising conscientious objections to working on the broadcast in light of the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
