RTÉ and Wexford Festival Opera have announced a broadcasting partnership to bring the festival's landmark 75th anniversary season to national and international audiences this October.

Under the media agreement, RTÉ lyric fm and RTÉ.ie/culture will broadcast and stream the festival's 75th anniversary concert, along with its mainstage opera productions. The coverage will also extend to international audiences through distribution on ARTE and via the European Broadcasting Union network.

The 75th anniversary season, running from 15 to 31 October at the National Opera House in Wexford, includes a special fundraising and anniversary gala concert titled Croí na Féile on 17 October. The performance brings together acclaimed international opera stars, including soprano Ermonela Jaho, tenor Joseph Calleja, mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona, and bass Giorgi Manoshvili.

This year's mainstage schedule features new productions of rare and celebrated works from the festival's history, including Pietro Mascagni's Iris and Gioachino Rossini's L'equivoco stravagante. Live audio streams, radio broadcasts, and digital features will allow listeners in Ireland and abroad to access the performances.

Organisers said the partnership builds on the long-standing broadcasting relationship between the national media broadcaster and the festival, aiming to broaden access to Ireland's flagship classical music event during its milestone year.
