A man in his 60s has died following a coastal emergency near Buncrana, County Donegal, on Saturday afternoon.
The alarm was raised at approximately 2:30 p.m. when passersby spotted the man in the water off Ned's Point. Members of the public assisted in recovering him from the water and bringing him ashore.
Emergency personnel, including crews from Lough Swilly RNLI, the National Ambulance Service, the local fire service, and An Garda Síochána, responded to the scene. CPR and resuscitation efforts were carried out at the site, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased. In accordance with standard procedures for fatal incidents, Gardaí will prepare a file for submission to the local Coroner's Court.
