Limerick City and County Council plans to spend an estimated €60,000 to purchase and install 10 giant branded promotional golf balls across the city and county as preparations continue for hosting the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.

According to tender details published by the local authority, the fibreglass golf balls will be designed for long-term outdoor display, with a minimum required durability of 12 months in the Irish climate. Each ball will display four branded logos intended to promote Limerick as the host region for the international golf tournament.

The 10 installations are set to be distributed across key municipal districts. Four golf balls will be stationed within Limerick city, three in the Adare and Rathkeale area, two in Newcastle West, and one in the Cappamore-Kilmallock district.

The initiative forms part of a broader local tourism and promotional campaign ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup, which is scheduled to take place at JP McManus’s Adare Manor in September 2027. Local authorities and state bodies have launched various legacy, infrastructure, and promotional projects across the midwest to prepare for the global sporting event.

Previous promotional displays included temporary giant golf ball installations and visual projections at landmarks such as King John’s Castle and Adare Village Hall during countdown events. Council officials expect the public displays to bolster community engagement and highlight the county to incoming visitors.
