Emergency, frontline, and voluntary service personnel across Ireland held public parades, fleet displays, and commemorative ceremonies on Saturday to mark National Services Day 2026. Events took place in locations including Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Wexford, Kilkenny, Drogheda, and Naas, offering members of the public an opportunity to meet frontline crews and inspect specialist rescue equipment up close.

In Dublin, the annual gathering commenced with a commemorative wreath-laying ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance before uniformed personnel paraded through the city centre to Trinity College Dublin. Meanwhile, celebrations in Galway featured a special focus on maritime and water safety, including a personnel parade from Galway City Hall to Galway Docks alongside static displays of naval and customs vessels.

Elsewhere, locations such as Kilkenny Castle Park and Merchants Quay in Drogheda hosted vehicle displays, safety demonstrations, and family activities. Organisers noted that this year's national programme coincided with milestone anniversaries for several participating organisations, including the 80th anniversary of the Irish Naval Service and the 20th anniversary of the National Ambulance Service Pipes and Drums Band.

Participating groups nationwide included the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the Irish Coast Guard, An Garda Síochána, Civil Defence, local fire services, and voluntary rescue teams. Operating under the theme "Celebrate, Commemorate, Inspire," the events aimed to highlight the ongoing work of statutory and voluntary responders while promoting safety awareness in local communities.
