The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has confirmed that key members of the Ireland men's national team coaching staff have extended their contracts through the conclusion of UEFA EURO 2028. Assistant Head Coach John O'Shea, Assistant Coach Paddy McCarthy, and Goalkeeping Coach Gudmundur Hreidarsson have all committed to new agreements, aligning their tenure with head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson, who signed a contract extension earlier in the year.

The agreements ensure managerial continuity for the national team ahead of the 2026–27 UEFA Nations League campaign and the buildup to EURO 2028, which will be co-hosted by Ireland and the United Kingdom, with Dublin serving as a host city. Under the structure, McCarthy will continue to combine his international duties with his coaching role at English Premier League club Crystal Palace, joining the national squad during international breaks.

In statements released by the FAI, Hallgrímsson welcomed the news, describing the backroom staff as integral to the ongoing development of the team. O'Shea also expressed satisfaction with the extensions, citing the potential within the squad and the prospect of competing in a major tournament on home soil.
