Derry swimmer Dearbhaile Brady rounded off a successful week for Ireland at the World Para Swimming European Championships in Kocaeli, Turkey, by capturing bronze in the 100m Breaststroke (SB6) final on Saturday evening.

The podium finish marked Brady's fourth medal of the championships and brought Ireland's final tournament tally to seven. Having qualified third-fastest after setting a personal best in the morning heats, the 19-year-old was sitting in fourth place at the turn before delivering a strong second length to touch the wall in 1:44.49. Her time shaved more than two and a half seconds off the lifetime best she had established hours earlier.

Speaking to Swim Ireland after the race, Brady reflected on her performance and progress over recent years. "I feel tired, I forgot how tiring the 100m Breaststroke can be," she said. "I'm happy with a bronze, it's not one of my best events, I like to swim it to see where I'm at. I went to Europeans in 2024 with four events and came out with one medal, so there's a big difference two years later."

Brady's bronze added to the three silver medals she earned earlier in the week in Kocaeli. Looking ahead, the National Centre Dublin swimmer noted that the championships provided valuable momentum. "It's been a good week, I've learned a lot to take into next year, a lot of positives. It's about putting the head down and taking it day by day as we head into next year," she added.

In the final evening session, Limerick's Róisín Ní Riain clocked 4:49.19 to finish fifth in the 400m Freestyle (S13) final. Ní Riain finishes her European campaign with a haul of one gold and two silver medals.
