Cork City FC clinched the 2026 SSE Airtricity Men's First Division title and secured automatic promotion back to the Premier Division following a 1-1 draw against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday evening.

The point gained away in County Wicklow proved sufficient to seal top spot in the division with six matches remaining in the league campaign. City's title victory was confirmed after second-placed UCD were held to a 1-1 draw by Cobh Ramblers at St Colman's Park, mathematically ruling out any remaining challenge at the top of the table.

Former Republic of Ireland international Seani Maguire was on target for the Rebel Army, scoring their goal before Bray Wanderers levelled the contest. Despite the draw, Cork City maintained an unassailable lead after losing only once in their opening 30 league fixtures under manager Barry Robson.

Speaking after the final whistle, Robson praised his team's commitment and resilience since taking charge in January. He acknowledged the challenge of navigating the division and highlighted the squad's physical preparation and tactical discipline in securing an immediate return to Ireland's top tier.
